A Women’s Business Expo will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave.

The event will have local businesswomen showcasing their talents, craft and expertise.

America Makes announces project award winners

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown-based America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, announced nine awardees for its Project Call No. 3 for additive manufacturing applied research and development projects.

America Makes will provide up to $8 million in funding toward these projects, with $11 million in matching cost share from the awarded project teams for total funding worth $19 million.

The institute’s third project call was focused on five technical additive manufacturing topic areas: design, material, process, value chain and genome – each with subset focus areas.

The awardees are: two project winners at the University of Pittsburgh; Raytheon; University of Notre Dame; GE Global Research; Boeing; Georgia Institute of Technology; University of Michigan; and the University of El Paso.

Farris Marketing works with PNDC

Penn-Northwest Development Corp. is an agency whose goal is to bring new businesses to Mercer County, Pa., by connecting them with government programs such as loans, tax incentives and low-cost land.

PNDC selected Farris Marketing of Boardman for several initiatives to help it achieve that goal.

Farris created a microwebsite, makeitinmercercounty.com, to give companies insight to the area and the corporation.

Free business expo, trade show will take place July 28

LISBON

Columbiana County’s Business Expo & Trade Show will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. July 28 at the Columbiana County Career & Technical Center, 9364 state Route 45 in Lisbon.

The free event will include sessions on cyber liability, innovation, social media and the Affordable Care Act. Local legislators will be available to meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Pre-registration for the business sessions are required.
