50th anniversary dinner honors Mr., Mrs. Burky

AUSTINTOWN

The children of David and Karen Burky of Austintown hosted a buffet dinner June 28 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield in honor of their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple also went on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean in April as part of their anniversary celebration.

The children are Steven Burky of Austintown, Jon (Roxann) Burky of Rootstown and Kristin (Scott) Shelley of Waconia, Minn. The family includes four grandchildren.

Mrs. Burky, the former Karen Adair, had been employed by Austintown Schools. She retired in April 2011 from the Mahoning County Law Library, where she worked in patron services. She is a member of the Ohio Child Conservation League.

Mr. Burky retired in 2008 from The Vindicator, where he worked in advertising sales. He is a member of Argus Masonic Lodge and is a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War who served from 1968 to 1969.

The couple are members of Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown. They were married June 26, 1965, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Youngstown.
