Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, will celebrate its 25th anniversary beginning at 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road.
Tickets cost $50 per person. Visit www.angelsforanimals.org to order tickets online, or for ticket information call Stephanie McMurray, chairwoman, at 330-509-1128. Only advance tickets are being sold, and the deadline is July 30.
The event will include a sit-down dinner accompanied with wine and a cash bar.
Stan Miller, jazz saxophonist and vocalist, will entertain. Also featured will be 50-50 and basket raffles and a silent auction.
The keynote speaker will be Atty. Jeff Holland, Ohio’s leading authority on animal law.
Special guests will be David Ditzler, Carol Rimedio-Righetti and Anthony T. Traficanti, Mahoning County commissioners; Jerry Greene, Mahoning County sheriff; Chief Tim Gladis of Columbiana Police Department; and Rich Morgan of 27 WKBN-TV.
ANGELS’ ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Over the past 25 years, the rescue operation has accomplished several goals.
Lariccia Animal Shelter opened to the public in 2002.
Andrews Hall Education Center was built and opened in 2003.
Cecil Crematory & Cremation Station constructed
Flynn Animal Surgery Wing opened in 2002.
Karen Erwin Trust acquired in 2013 to operate spay and neuter programs for cats.
Construction of a permanent building for Angels at the Canfield Fairgrounds
Implementation of a mandatory spay/neuter policy for dogs in 2006 at the Mahoning County Dog Pound and in 2004 at the Columbiana Dog Pound
Retail area incorporated into the shelter
Purchase of 33-acre property on state Route 11 in 1998
Drop-off center for cats that is open 24/7
Availability of cat traps to safely capture feral cats
LOOKING AHEAD
Proceeds will benefit The Angel Wing project. As Angels celebrates its anniversary it looks forward to building the Angel Wing medical facility, which will be a lifesaving net for abandoned, abused and injured animals, as well as for owned pets in need.
