Youngstown man charged with weapons violation


YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested James Kennedy Jr., 49, of Youngstown, on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon and using weapons while intoxicated early today.

Police found a shotgun with four live rounds, after stopping him on West Federal Street at 12:05 a.m. According to a police report, officers noticed Kennedy walking on South Phelps Street with his left hand supporting something inside his heavy leather coat.

Officers also smelled an odor of alcohol from Kennedy, who was speaking in slurred and repeated speech. The took him to the Mahoning County jail.
