Methodist churches get new pastor

STONEBORO, Pa.

The Methodists United in Faith Charge welcomed new Senior Pastor Janet Pratt on her first Unity Sunday, July 5. She will serve United Methodist Churches in the Sandy Lake and Stoneboro area that include Hendersonville, Lakeview, Mount Hope, Stoneboro and Vincent. Previously, Pastor Pratt has served at the Harrisville and Seneca United Methodist churches.

Pastor Pratt grew up in Sewickley Hills, near Pittsburgh, and graduated from Robert Morris University. Originally an accountant, she had her call to the ministry in 2012, and is enrolled with the Methodist Seminary Course of Study in Columbus. Pastor Pratt has a farm background, having grown up on a vegetable farm and having parents who were raised on dairy farms in Centre County.

Child dedication at Faith Fellowship

YOUNGSTOWN

The Faith Fellowship Church of God, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., will have a child dedication Sunday at the 10:45 a.m. service. Rev. Ken Phillips, associate pastor, will officiate in the dedication and also preach in the morning service. Rev. Jonathan Mitchell is the pastor.

Release negativity at worship event

Then come to the “Fire of Hope” worship and cookout at the First Presbyterian Church of Girard on Sunday at 6 p.m. This unique outdoor worship experience with live music will help you symbolically let go of the negativity in your life and claim God’s gifts of hope and joy. After worship, there will be a cookout supper. Meat, chips, beverages and table service will be provided. If you wish to bring additional food to share, you may do so but it is not required. Rummage sale to aid charity

BOARDMAN

Bella Nitesh Spiritual Arts & Education Center and the Mahoning Valley Church of the Angels will collaborate with the Youngstown Shinnyo-en Sangha in a rummage sale today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Amethyst Room at Bella Nitesh, 837 Boardman-Canfield Road.

The sale will benefit the HEARTS Program at Valley Counseling Children’s Office, which teaches daily living skills and independent living skills to at-risk youths and young people age 16-24 who are transitioning out of foster-care systems.

There also will be a 50/50 raffle and collection bins will be available for those who wish to make a monetary contribution to a specific cause. All of the unsold household items will be donated to the HEARTS program and to Habitat for Humanity’s thrift store.
