Cemetery tours offered Sunday
POLAND
Poland Historical Society members will be leading guided tours through historic Poland Riverside Cemetery beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, the 150th anniversary of the opening of the cemetery.
The tours will visit the memorials of early Poland families, government officials, war veterans and sisters of President McKinley. Tours will begin at the cemetery chapel.
Writers receive honor for cemetery book

Sally Jay Joseph and Louis Joseph received the prestigious Simon Kenton Award from President Margaret Cheney of the Ohio Genealogical Society at the recent state convention.
The award honors their accomplishment in producing and hours spent researching their latest book, “The Tombstones of Oak Hill Cemetery, Volume I, Youngstown and Mahoning County.”
The book was compiled for the Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.

Event will support OH WOW! programs
YOUNGSTOWN
OH WOW!, The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, a nonprofit organization, is sponsoring an adult-only event, The Science of Brewing 2.0, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the center, 11 W. Federal St.
It will include tastings by regional brewers, vintners and distillers; food pairings by Avalon Downtown; workshops; live entertainment; a silent auction; and a basket raffle.
Tickets are $50 per person, and sponsorship packages are $250 and contain two tickets to the event, a sheet of raffle tickets, and recognition in the event program, on OH WOW!’s website, in print and on social media.

Family Fun Night

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, at the corner of Kirk Road, will sponsor its second Family Fun Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Food, games, bounce castle, fellowship and the musical group Higher Ground from Howland will be featured at this outdoor or indoor event, depending on the weather. The evening is free and offered as a gift to the community.
Christmas in July
LEETONIA
Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., will celebrate Christmas in July from 1 to 3 p.m. July 25. Children 5 to 12 are invited to join Miss Robin for food, fun, crafts including graham cracker houses, stories and minute-to-win-it games. Wear your favorite Christmas hat, T-shirt or sweater.
Legacy Dog Rescue will redo benefit bash
CORTLAND
Legacy Dog Rescue has been invited to redo the Co-Independence Day Bash at 3:30 p.m. July 25 at The Lake Tavern, 6071 state Route 46. There will be a basket and 50-50 raffle, and six local bands will entertain.
The program is for all ages, and there is no cover charge. Proceeds will help Legacy Dog Rescue.

AWL Motorcycle Run to include special tour
VIENNA
The 11th annual Animal Welfare League Motorcycle Run will include a winery and covered bridge tour July 26.
The run will begin and end at the Animal Shelter, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Road SE, across from Squaw Creek Country Club. Registration starts at 10 a.m., first bikes will go out at 11:30, and raffles will be drawn at 4:30 p.m.
Fees to register are $20 per driver and $15 per passenger. Food will be available, as will a basket auction, a lottery tree and a 50-50 raffle.
The run takes place rain or shine. All proceeds benefit the animals at AWL. For information call 330-539-5300.
