Greenbriar Commons hosted the second annual Car Show on June 24. At the event staff and volunteers welcomed residents’ families, guest singer “Elvis,” and various car experts to come share knowledge and discuss the art of cars with those who wished to participate.

Natalie Walczak, executive director of Greenbriar campus, said she really enjoyed the way the event reached out to the community.

“It’s a nice community event we do,” Walczak said. “The residents love it. ...It gives community a chance to get to know us in a different light, in a positive light rather than when they are coming to us when they are sick and they need help.”

Walczak said this event was a favorite for many of their residents because they get to share their expertise as well as indulge in the hobby of being and interacting with car buffs for a day.

“It’s an event for them because they don’t get to get out a lot,” Walczak said. “We bring it to them.”

Another aspect that was enjoyed is the presence of grandchildren and the generational differences appreciated.

“Residents really love that — getting to see kids come and play,” Walczak said.

Overall, Walczak said she was happy to know that everyone was having a good time, regardless of the reason.

“I love getting to see the smiles on the residents faces and getting to see them have a good time,” Walczak said.
