CANFIELD

Dr. Mounir and Mrs. Linda Awad of Canfield are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Dr. Jeanine Awad of Canfield, and Dr. Charles Spirtos of Poland.

The prospective groom is the son of Dr. Ted and Georgia Spirtos of Poland.

The couple are planning a Catholic ceremony in September at St. Maron Church in Youngstown, with a reception to follow at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown. The next day, a Greek Orthodox ceremony will take place at Archangel Michael Church in Campbell. Invitations will be issued for the events.

The bride-elect graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from the University of Akron and with a doctor of medicine degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. She completed an internship in general surgery at UPMC Mercy. She is a resident physician in emergency medicine at Akron General Medical Center.

The future groom graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in combined sciences from Youngstown State University and with a doctor of medicine degree from NEOMED. His residency training in diagnostic radiology was at MetroHealth Medical Center, and his fellowship training in nuclear radiology was at Case Medical Center. He is a nuclear radiologist at Cleveland Clinic Regional Radiology in Akron.
