Birding the Sanctuary

When: Saturday, 8 to 9:30 a.m.

What: Jeff Harvey of Wild Birds Unlimited will lead this walk. Boots are required.

Register: Ford Nature Center by Friday.

Where: Mill Creek Wildlife Sanctuary

Cost: Free

Summer Flyers

When: Sunday, 1 to 3 p.m.

What: On these walks we’ll be on the lookout for “dragons,” “damsels,” and “butters.” Bring water and wear boots. Moderate rating, 1 to 2 miles.

Register: Ford Nature Center by 5 p.m. the day before each program.

Where: Mill Creek Preserve

CRAFT IN THE WOODS

When: Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

What: Participants will receive a map of our self-guided hike that will mark simple craft stations along the way. All crafts will have a nature theme and someone to help with instructions.

Vegetable Gardening

When: Monday, 6 to 8 p.m.

What: Join us on a site visit to ask questions and learn about growing vegetables. You’ll get personal answers and gain new skills through hands-on demonstrations.

Where: Southern Park Stables, 4-H Community Garden 126 Washington Blvd., Boardman.

WILD SUBURBIA PROJECT

When: Tuesday, 7 to 8:30 p.m.

What: Learn about the nature center’s citizen science project to collect wildlife sightings. Registration required.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center.

Sprout Club

When: July 23, 1 to 2 p.m.

What: For ages 3 to 5, plus an adult. Join the Sprout Club this summer to learn about the wonderful world of pollinators, tremendous trees and yummy vegetables. Each class will include a craft and snack. Attend all three classes and receive a plant-related prize.

Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown.
