Valley housing market appears strong


YOUNGSTOWN — The housing market across the Mahoning Valley has continued to show growth.

Data released by the Youngstown/Columbiana Association of Realtors shows an increase in pending sales and new listings in both Mahoning and Columbiana counties this June over June 2014.

In Trumbull County, data released by the Warren Area Board of Realtors shows closed sales, pending sales, new listings and the average sales price all increased.

The county saw an increase of 2.2 percent in new listings, an 18.8 percent increase in pending sales, a 16.6 percent increase in closed sales and a 7.2 percent increase in the average sales price for a home.

Inventory of homes for sales went down 10.8 percent.

In Mahoning County, pending sales increased by 72.5 percent over last year and closed sales increased by 28.9 percent. New listings increased by 1.8 percent over last June.

The average sales price in Mahoning County did take a 17.8 percent dip, and the inventory of homes dropped by 4.5 percent.

In Columbiana County, pending sales increased by 76.6 percent in June. New listings also increased by 1.3 percent, and the average sales price for a home went up 6.9 percent. Closed sales in the county went down 13.6 percent, and the inventory of homes dropped by 4.6 percent.
