Comic Mike Epps coming to Powers

YOUNGSTOWN

Comedian Mike Epps will perform at Powers Auditorium on Oct. 9. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, 260 W. Federal St., downtown; online at youngstownsymphony.com; and by phone at 330-744-0264.

Epps is the star of the Starz series “Survivor’s Remorse” and recently completed a story arc on the BET series “Being Mary Jane.” He will also play the role of Richard Pryor in director Lee Daniel’s upcoming biographical film on the late comedian.

Opening the show will be comedian Earthquake.

Dog day at winery for rescue group

LAKE MILTON

Legacy Dog Rescue will present Hot Diggity Dog Day from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Lil Paws Winery, 17574 Mahoning Ave.

Guests will receive five hot dog tastes, paired with five wine tastes, for $5. Toppings include BLT, sloppy joe, Mexican, Buffalo chicken, and more. Veggie dogs will also be served. The event will include a silent auction.

Arts camp for kids at St. Patrick church

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., will host an arts camp Aug. 3-7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

Activities will include singing, drama, handbells, boomwhackers, hands-on visual art activities, creative writing/poetry and individual instrument tutoring. All classes will be taught by qualified artists from the parish, the community and Youngstown State University.

The camp is open to children from kindergarten through 12th grade. Fee is $5. A light breakfast and lunch will be served each day. To register, call 330-743-1109.
