Kinsman man, 86, killed in auto crash
JOHNSON TWP.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash at the intersection of state Route 193 and Bradley Brownlee Road on Sunday morning.
The crash occurred at 10:07 a.m. George Ogilbee, 86, of Kinsman was heading southbound on Route 193 while a 63-year-old Cortland woman was driving westbound on Bradley Brownlee Road.
The woman failed to yield from the stop sign striking Ogilbee’s vehicle, which rotated to the right and rolled over to a stop off the left side of the roadway.
Ogilbee was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital where he died because of injuries. The other driver was not injured.
The patrol said safety belts were in use and alcohol was not a factor.
3 injured in Jackson in 3-vehicle crash
JACKSON TWP.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that sent three people to the hospital Sunday morning.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Duck Creek Road and Mahoning Avenue at 11:42 a.m.
John Progar, 58, of Canfield stopped at the intersection preparing to turn south onto Duck Creek Road. A second car struck Progar’s vehicle causing him to hit Wanda Emerick, 56, and Wayne Emerick, 68, both from Louisville, who were riding together on a motorcycle.
Progar and the Emericks were transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle did not claim any injuries.
The patrol said the injuries were serious but appear to be non-life-threatening.
Berlin Lake group to meet Wednesday
DEERFIELD
The summer meeting of the Berlin Lake Association will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14.
Representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers will discuss the new gate that has been placed at the Watson Road lake access as well as potential changes to the current Berlin Lake Shoreline Management Plan.
Brunch on the Be ach will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 2 on the point at Les’s Bait/ Marcko Landing. Attendees are asked to bring a brunch item to share.
