“Ray Donovan” (9 p.m., Showtime): As Season 3 of “Ray Donovan” begins, our shady title character (Liev Schreiber) is on the rampage following the murder of his lover, Kate (Vinessa Shaw). Ian McShane and Katie Holmes join the fun as guest stars.

“Masters of Sex” (10 p.m., Showtime): It’s time again for making whoopee as the steamy drama kicks off its third season by jumping ahead four years. Now it’s 1965 and Masters (Michael Sheen) and Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) are about to become major celebrities as their groundbreaking study goes public. Meanwhile, the pioneering human-sexuality researchers continue to carry on their romance, even as Masters remains married to Libby (Caitlin FitzGerald).

“The Strain” (10 p.m., FX): “The Strain” returns for a second season of creepy shenanigans, and it’s clear that the citizens of New York City must fight or die. For their part, Eph (Corey Stoll) and Nora (Mia Maestro) work on a biological weapon in hopes of wiping out the evil bloodsuckers.

Playhouse presents ‘Damn Yankees’

NEW CASTLE, PA.

New Castle Playhouse, 202 E. Long Ave., will present “Damn Yankees” for seven performances: Friday, Saturday, July 19, 23, 24, 25 and 26. Curtain times are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays.
