Tye Tribbett, two-time Grammy winner, is the headliner for today’s 2DE Gospel Festival in downtown Youngstown. The gates open at 1 p.m., and the gospel music starts at 2 p.m. It also features performances by local artists and choirs.
Shooting probed
YOUNGSTOWN
Police are investigating a shooting that resulted in a man being taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital early Saturday.
A witness reported to police the 36-year-old victim from Youngstown entered the Southern Tavern, 1508 Glenwood Ave., complaining about a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police were called to the scene at 12:14 a.m. The witness drove the victim in his vehicle to the hospital. The witness said he did not see the shooting and took the victim because he felt there was no time to wait for an ambulance.
Paranormal series
CHAMPION
The Trumbull Career and Technical Center’s Adult Training Center will offer a five-part series on the paranormal.
Series topics include angels, Big Foot, ghosts, reincarnation and UFOs. Sessions will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays starting July 23 at TCTC, 528 Educational Highway NW. Cost is $25 for all five.
Jan Rice, instructor at Lakeland Community College, will talk about angels July 23, reincarnation Aug. 6 and ghosts Aug. 20.
Jami and Jenny King, founding members of the Pennsylvania and Ohio Bigfoot Field Evidence, will talk about Big Foot on July 30. Lori Schmitt will talk about UFOs Aug. 13. For information, call 330-847-0503, ext. 1600.
Family fun day
NEWTON FALLS
A free family fun day is set for 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 25 at the Newton Falls Community Center Park.
It includes a farmers market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., fun for the family from 2 to 6 p.m., Arty Party from 5 to 7 p.m. ($40, must pre-register), and wine tasting from 6 to 10 p.m. ($10 per person). Proceeds will help build a new playground.
