Police arrested two Campbell residents late Friday on multiple felony drug- possession charges, including the possession of LSD.
Police pulled over a white Pontiac sedan at Wilson Avenue near Fairview Avenue because the rear license plate and the validation sticker were covered by a plastic border, according to a police report.
The driver, Nicholas Hovey, 24, of Reed Avenue, produced a suspended temporary driver’s permit. He informed police he had a knife in his pocket, and officers searched for other weapons after he got out of the vehicle.
Due to a strong odor of fresh marijuana emitting from the car, police conducted a probable-cause search of the vehicle after the passenger, Angelina Soto, 23, of Reed Avenue, got out.
Police found a glass jar in the trunk of the sedan containing 17.6 grams of suspected marijuana, 5.8 grams of suspected heroin in a bag, 53 unit doses of suspected LSD and 21.5 grams of suspected hashish in a plastic bag. A black scale also was found in the trunk, and police confiscated $103.
Hovey and Soto are charged with three felonies of possession of LSD, heroin and hashish, and two misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Hovey also was cited for an additional three misdemeanors for the display of the plates, producing no driver’s license and driving under a suspended permit.
After both were advised of their rights, Soto and Hovey told police they didn’t know anything about the illegal narcotics in the vehicle.
