Youngstown police investigating shooting that sent man to hospital

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating a shooting that resulted in a man being taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital early this morning.

A witness reported to police the 36-year-old victim from Youngstown entered the Southern Tavern, 1508 Glenwood Ave., complaining about a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The witness drove the victim in his vehicle to the hospital.

The witness told police he did not see the shooting and took the victim because he felt there was no time to wait for an ambulance.
