Phantoms trade for forward Sam Craggs

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Phantoms have acquired forward Sam Craggs from the Green Bay Gamblers in exchange for the Phantoms’ third-round pick in the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft.

Craggs, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound left winger, is the younger brother of Phantoms forward Lukas Craggs.

“We have had our eye on him for the last two seasons, where he has been an impact forward out of AAA hockey in the Chicago area and for the Team Illinois program,” Phantoms general manager Jason Koehler said. “Sam plays our style and our way.”

Craggs was Green Bay’s third round pick (34th overall) in the USHL Phase II Draft in May. Like his brother Lukas, he is committed to play college hockey at Bowling Green State University. Craggs played three games in the USHL last season for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, scoring a goal on his first shot in his first game.
