Probe into woman’s death continues

Police continue investigating the death of a West Side woman in her home in the 1200 block of Wellington Avenue late Tuesday.

Lt. Doug Bobovnyik of the Detective Bureau said investigators will continue working the case of 55-year-old Tina Jarrell over the weekend. She was found dead in her home about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday by her husband.

Her stepson, James Jarrell, 33, was caught by Pittsburgh police in her car Wednesday in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh police charged him with receiving stolen property and a drug charge. He remains in the Allegheny County Jail.

No charges have been filed yet in Tina Jarrell’s death. Youngstown police tried to question James Jarrell but he invoked his right to a lawyer, and the questioning was stopped.

Street closings

YOUNGSTOWN

Because of the Youngstown Jazz Festival, the city’s Central Square on Wick Avenue from Commerce to Boardman streets will be closed from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Also, East Federal Street will be closed between Phelps and Champion streets and Market Street closed from Commerce to Boardman streets from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday for the 2 Deep Entertainment’s gospel music event. Gates open at 1 p.m. with the program lasting from 2 to 9 p.m.

Out of service

YOUNGSTOWN

The elevator in the Main Library of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County is out of order and expected to be unavailable until early next week, while repairs are made, the library system announced. The main library is located at 305 Wick Ave.

The main library will remain open, but patrons must climb stairs in the multilevel building. Patrons who need an elevator may want to use nearby branch libraries, telephone reference, or the library’s website, www.LibraryVisit.org, library officials said.

Robbery reported

WARREN

A city man, 49, staying at his nephew’s house in the 1100 block of McMyler Street Northwest on Thursday night, said he was robbed by three men with guns at 8:20 p.m.

The man said the robbers broke into the house through the front door. Two of them came up to the second floor and put their guns to his head and demanded money and drugs.

They ordered him into the basement and tied him up, then brought his grandson from the first-floor living room to the basement with him. The man’s wallet and two cellphones were stolen.

Assault charge

WARREN

William F. Jarrette, 22, of Brier Street Southeast, was charged with felonious assault Thursday after he apparently was shot during a gunfight Wednesday afternoon on Brier Street.

ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital told police Wednesday that Jarrette had come to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police were called to the 2200 block of Brier for gunshots and found Kamiko Fambro, 32, of Third Street Southwest. Fambro said “several guns” had been pulled on her; she has a license to carry a concealed weapon, and used her weapon to defend herself. She has not been charged.

Police later charged Kalen Robinson, 21, of Hoyt Street Southwest, with felony complicity and failure to comply with the orders of a police officer after they found Robinson driving a gold minivan nearby that police believe was involved.
