Homicide investigators say man’s body found in Columbus park

COLUMBUS (AP) — Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man whose body was found in a park in Columbus.

Columbus police did not immediately release the cause of death for Dominique DeShawn Thomas. They say Thomas’ body was found in plain sight between a sidewalk and a tree in Franklin Park early today.

Police say someone passing by the site reported the body just before 6:30 a.m.

Sgt. David Sicilian of the homicide squad told The Columbus Dispatch that Thomas was killed at the spot where his body was found. He said the man likely was killed between 6 and 6:30 am.

Police were probing evidence collected at the scene and planned to canvas the neighborhood.
