Mill Creek Park lakes closed to public use
YOUNGSTOWN — In response to test results provided this afternoon by the Mahoning County District Board of Health, which show high fecal coliform levels in the waters, Mill Creek MetroParks is closing Lakes Newport, Cohasset, and Glacier for public use until further notice.
All scheduled activities for these Mill Creek Park lakes is canceled until further notice. No fishing, boating or other recreational use of those lakes is permitted.
Those who have registered for upcoming water programs or activities should contact the park’s Ford Nature Center.
“In the interest of protecting MetroParks patrons’ health, safety, and well-being, we believe this is the appropriate course of action,” said Aaron Young, Mill Creek MetroParks executive director.
