Man indicted for June shooting

YOUNGSTOWN

A man who had an attempted-murder charge bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury earlier this week was indicted Thursday on a lesser charge of felonious assault.

Richard Sutherland, 42, of Helena Avenue, also was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with firearm specifications in the June 2 shooting of Eric VanCobb, 35, at a West Indianola Avenue home.

VanCobb was shot in the spine and is paralyzed. Testimony at Sutherland’s preliminary hearing this week in municipal court said VanCobb was shot during a drug deal that went awry at the home.

The grand jury also indicted Daniel Boask, 24, on a charge of obstruction of justice related to the case on allegations of impeding the investigation.

Stephon Austin, 32, Hillman Street, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine with forfeiture specifications and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Danny Williams, 20, East Lucius Avenue, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine with forfeiture specifications and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Melissa A. Berry, 32, South Meridian Road, possession of heroin, possession of drugs, possession of drug-abuse instruments, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Melissa Patterson, 27, Fourth Street, Struthers, receiving stolen property and obstruction of justice.

Archie Stanford, 29, Maple Avenue, possession of cocaine.

Frank N. Vetrano, 27, Newbern Circle, robbery and receiving stolen property.

Clara R. Bailey, 21, West Poland Avenue, Bessemer, Pa., aggravated possession of drugs, burglary and two counts of endangering children.

David J. Coates, 25, Hillsville Road, Edinburg, Pa., aggravated possession of drugs, burglary and two counts of endangering children.

James Edmonds, 30, Hilton Avenue, possession of cocaine, possession of drugs and falsification with forfeiture specifications.

Devin L. Gilmore, 23, Diamond Road, Grove City, Pa., two counts of burglary, two counts of aggravated burglary with firearm specification, receiving stolen property and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

Rico M. Resper, 22, West Poplar Street, Grove City, Pa., two counts of burglary, two counts of aggravated burglary with firearm specification, receiving stolen property and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

Shearrod Calhoun, 24, Oakwood Avenue, felon in illegal possession of a firearm, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

Bryan Moffett, 42, Lusk Lock Road, Lisbon, possession of heroin.
