Robinwood Lane Elementary school celebrated the end of the school year with a Fun Day on May 29. All students got to take part in the day’s events in 15-minute increments, either in the morning or afternoon and watching a movie on the off-time.

Teacher and parent Nicole Haggerty has been charge of this event for six years, gathering more parent volunteers each year.

Haggerty said she loves seeing more people want to be involved.

“Some of the kindergarten students’ parents don’t really know about it and then end up wanting to help the next year,” Haggerty said. “This is a time parents get to come and eat lunch with their kids.”

Haggerty said the day has fun for everybody.

“Teachers get to chill, kids get to chill,” Haggerty said.

Students got to visit stations around the school ranging from pizza box and car wash relays to hula-hooping and playing kickball.

The Parent-Teacher Association provided snow cone and popcorn snacks and many of the activities available during Fun Day.

“It’s a nice end of the year celebration celebrating the end of the school year,” Haggerty said.

The students have a different favorite part of Fun Day that they look forward to over their years in school – the dunk tank. Only fourth grade students get to volunteer to be dunked in the dunk tank so younger students look forward to getting older and being able to participate in the activity.

“Fourth-graders really look forward to volunteering for the dunk tank,” Haggerty said. “In fact, the only adult that goes into the tank is Mr. Robinson.”
