A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

July 2

Theft: A $200 set of headphones was taken from a car in the 200 block of Westview Avenue.

July 3

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 200 block of Parish Street broke a vehicle’s driver’s-side window and removed a wallet.

July 4

Harassment: A Saul Drive woman said her former husband sent her derogatory text messages, apparently as part of a dispute related to child-support payments.

July 6

Menacing: A Stewart Street man reported having heard secondhand about a woman’s threat to harm him and beat up his girlfriend.

Harassment: A Hillview Drive man alleged another man falsely accused him of abusing his girlfriend and a child.

LIBERTY

July 3

Drugs: A traffic stop near state Route 193 and Interstate 80 resulted in 24-year-old James W. Rhodes’ arrest on charges of drug abuse and driving under suspension when, police said, the Pittsburgh man had a bag of suspected marijuana in an energy-drink can.

Harassment: A Trumbull Court woman reported two family members have been making and sending to her multiple unwanted calls and text messages.

Possible burglary: Police reported having found two damaged basement-window screens while investigating a possible break-in at a residence in the 10 block of Holly Drive.

Misuse of a credit card: A Virginia Trail man found out his wife’s credit card had been used to make possibly more than $2,000 worth of unauthorized transactions.

Theft: Wanda M. Duck, 46, of McGuffey Road, Youngstown, was charged with stealing $66 worth of merchandise from Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza.

July 4

Arrest: After trying to pull over a vehicle on state Route 193, authorities charged Jerome E. Lewis of Catalina Avenue, Youngstown, with failure to comply with police. Lewis, 26, continued to drive before stopping on Wirt Street, a report showed.

Aggravated menacing: A Sampson Drive woman alleged that while driving on Belmont Avenue, a 20-year-old woman intentionally swerved into her lane in an effort to run the accuser off the road.

Arrest: Authorities answering a disturbance call at a Belmont Avenue motel charged 31-year-old Sparkle D. Williams with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after saying the Columbus woman was intoxicated and caused a scene while claiming her purse had been stolen. Williams continued to be disruptive, then argumentative toward officers, a report stated.

July 5

Assault: A Youngstown man suffered a swollen left eye after reporting he had been punched in the face while in the 40 block of Trumbull Court.

Theft: A license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Trumbull Avenue.

Arrest: Ohio Department of Natural Resources officials in Lake Milton handed to township police 47-year-old Van D. Darling Jr. of Bonnie Brae Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Girard Municipal Court.

Theft: A Green Acres Drive woman noticed all of the hubcaps had been stolen off her car.

July 6

Theft: A man with a bandanna concealing his face was seen on a surveillance camera reportedly stealing two commercial air-conditioning units from Redstone Construction Inc., 5050 Belmont Ave. The loss was estimated at $10,000.

Theft: An employer with a business in the 4600 block of Belmont Avenue alleged a 38-year-old worker pocketed money from customers about twice daily for two months, resulting in a $972 loss.

Theft: Someone stole a $2,000 compressor core from a rooftop air-conditioning unit at a business in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue.

July 7

Theft: A Goleta Avenue man discovered his wallet missing from his car.

Burglary: To a residence in the 3200 block of Hadley Avenue, apparently after the perpetrator had pulled an air-conditioning unit from a rear window.

GIRARD

July 5

Recovered property: Police on routine patrol found a wallet in the road in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue.

July 6

Menacing: A man alleged his son’s grandparents had made threats and derogatory comments against him while he was at a home in the 200 block of Ohio Avenue.

Harassment: A North Ward Avenue woman alleged her landlord has made unwanted sexual advances toward her, and that he has called her two or three times daily.

Identity fraud: A Crumlin Avenue man learned that his personal information had been used to make 14 unauthorized online withdrawals from his account totaling $206.

July 7

Citations: After responding to a report of someone passed out in a car near East Prospect Street, police issued minor-misdemeanor citations charging Michael A. Deans, no information given, with operating a vehicle impaired and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Menacing: A West Howard Street woman told police four people who were suspected in a shoplifting situation posted on Facebook a flier claiming she was a registered sex offender, apparently in an effort to retaliate against her.

Drugs: Officers responded to a possible trespassing situation on Emma Street, where they took into custody Danielle Johnson of Lealand Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Weathersfield Township warrant charging her with escape. The 35-year-old Johnson also was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments when, police alleged, five syringes and a spoon with burn marks common in drug use were found.

Domestic violence: Keith E. Johnson, 40, of East Second Street, Girard, was charged with the crime after his stepson alleged that during an argument, Johnson had grabbed and shoved him into a wall, causing an injury to the accuser’s left arm.

Theft: An air-conditioning unit and a dishwasher were missing from a vacant residence in the 300 block of Iowa Avenue.
