v “House of Cards” (season 3): Kevin Spacey’s scheming politico hits the White House in Netflix drama, renewed for season 4; $56 DVD/$66 Blu-ray, Sony.

v “Playing House”: Another great gal-pals pairing has series creators Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair as childhood BFFs raising one baby, with help from Keegan-Michael Key and Jane Kaczmarek (USA cable’s season 2 starts Aug. 4); $45, Universal.

v “The Strain: Special Edition”: What Guillermo Del Toro fan wouldn’t want this gross collector’s bust of The Master? Plus added extras (FX’s season 2 starts Sunday); $70 Blu-ray, Fox.

“First Peoples,” 9 p.m., PBS: The limited series ends with Homo sapiens and Neanderthals duking it out for dominance in prehistoric Europe. If this happened today, it would be on pay-per-view.

“Celebrity Wife Swap,” 10 p.m., ABC: Cloris Leachman and Pia Zadora switch spouses.

“Million Dollar Listing San Francisco” (10 p.m., Bravo): This latest entry in the reality franchise is about pricey properties and the ambitious brokers who peddle them. Now, the spotlight is on the booming real estate market in the city by the bay.

‘Line Dance King’ at fundraiser event

YOUNGSTOWN

Robert Johnson of Cleveland, known as “The Line Dance King,” will be the entertainer at an event July 18, to benefit the scholarship fund of the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice’s Mahoning Valley affiliate. It will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.

Tickets are $10 at the door and include refreshments. Vendor tables are also available for $25; contact Lorri Franklin at 330-953-9628.

Italian Fest seeks pageant applicants

YOUNGSTOWN

The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest (July 31, Aug. 1 and 2) is accepting applications for the festival’s pageant. Young women age 16 to 24 may enter if they have Italian heritage. Contestants will be asked to give a brief speech about their heritage, respond to a question from the judge, and present a talent. Previous participants have showcased singing, dancing, instrumentals, readings, comedy and hobbies.
