Warriors trade Lee to Celts for Wallace
OAKLAND, Calif.
David Lee wanted to help turn around the Golden State Warriors when he came to the struggling franchise as a high-priced free agent in 2010.
Five years later, Lee is leaving with a championship — and the respect of his teammates and loyal fans.
The Warriors agreed to trade the former All-Star forward to the Boston Celtics for Gerald Wallace on Tuesday.
Lee injured his left hamstring in the final preseason game and his role diminished with the emergence of Draymond Green, the runner-up for defensive player of the year.
The NBA champion Warriors have been looking to trade Lee this summer to limit the team’s luxury tax hit next season.
T-wolves give Garnett two more years
MINNEAPOLIS
Only two players in NBA history have made it to season No. 21 in their careers. Kevin Garnett is about to become the third.
Garnett agreed to terms on a two-year deal to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Garnett spent his first 12 seasons in Minnesota before being traded to Boston in 2007.
He won a championship and played in another NBA Finals with the Celtics before moving on to Brooklyn.
The Timberwolves acquired him in a February trade that sent Thaddeus Young to the Nets.
But Garnett only played five games for the Wolves after the trade, sitting out with knee problems.

FSU QB dismissed
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.
Florida State has dismissed freshman quarterback De’Andre Johnson from the team on the same day that prosecutors released video showing him punching a woman at a bar.
In a statement Monday, coach Jimbo Fisher announced Johnson’s immediate dismissal. The quarterback had been suspended after the June 24 assault.
In the security camera video released by the State Attorney’s Office, it appears the woman and Johnson were trying to get a position at the bar, and Johnson jostled her.
The woman raises a fist and shouts at Johnson before he grabs her fist and holds it down. She then raises her other hand and swings. It’s not clear whether she made contact, but Johnson responds by punching her in the face while still grabbing her other hand. She staggers, and her nose begins bleeding. Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor battery.
