Marcus Powell, 45, of Campbell was arraigned Tuesday on charges of felonious assault, being a felon in possession of a weapon, assault and discharging a firearm. Powell is accused of firing a handgun Friday at a group of juveniles who were fighting on Chambers Street.

A plea of not guilty was entered for all misdemeanors. Powell is due in Campbell Municipal Court for a pretrial hearing Friday. His bond was set at $18,450.

Facing drug charges

Reports said a woman wanted on at least three warrants was found passed out in a car about 6:40 a.m. Monday with a crack pipe next to her.

Officers were called to Lauderdale Avenue and Elm Street to check on a car sitting in the roadway with the lights on. They arrived they found áhristina M. Gradillas, 36, of Liberty, passed out in the driver’s seat. Reports said when an officer woke her, she grabbed a crack pipe that was next to her and tried to hide it, but she gave it to the officer when he asked for it.

Two bags of suspected crack cocaine were also on the front seat, reports said. Gradillas was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of drugs cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also faces a charge of obstructing official business because she gave officers a false name and when her real name was revealed, they found the warrants, all from other departments, reports said.

Office hours set

YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office will have open office hours in the Mahoning Valley in which regional representatives will answer questions and distribute materials about its business-services division and voting programs.

The first will take place at the Newport Branch library, 3730 Market St. in Youngstown, from 2 to 4 p.m. today.

The office hours will take place at the Newton Falls Public Library, 204 S. Canal St., from 2 to 4 p.m. July 21.

Also, the office’s representatives will be at the East Palestine Memorial Public Library, 309 N. Market St., from 2 to 4 p.m. July 29.

Report: Boy, 12, says woman propositioned him

WARREN

An Ohio Avenue woman called police Monday afternoon after her son, 12, told her that a woman living on the street wanted him to pay her $20 for sex.

The boy said he refused, and the woman then asked him if he wanted to buy the drug suboxone from her.

The woman said she went to see what was going on when her son yelled for her, and the other woman walked back to her house.

Police tried to speak with the suspect, but her boyfriend, who answered the door, said he couldn’t find her.

A police officer said he was familiar with the suspect “because of dealing with [her] multiple times on past incidents.” Police said there would be a report on file, but no charge was filed.

Food swap scheduled

Lake-to-River Food Hub will host a Youngstown Food Swap on Sunday at the Co-op, the new grocery space, at 818 Elm St.

The food swap is open to anyone who makes or grows something in Youngstown and the surrounding areas and who wants to take home a bunch of goodies. People may bring items they have made or grown, such as homemade bread, granola, berries or vegetables, brewed coffee, fresh jam, vegan salads, etc.

Each item should be packaged individually with the maker’s name, contact information and item ingredient list. Each item should also be valued around $5, so the swapping is even.

This is a free event, but registration is required. Everything is traded.

Stop Motion Camp

YOUNGSTOWN

The YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., will host Stop Motion Camp from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through July 17 for children in fourth through sixth grades. The cost is $40.

In this weeklong camp, participants will learn about basic stop motion. They will brainstorm a short story and then use everyday objects to create a short stop-motion film. Stop-motion film is pictures stitched together to show movement, using clay figures, banners and paper, or any other objects that can be moved.
