CANFIELD
Canfield police arrested a man Monday who was indicted Thursday on nine counts of felony gross sexual imposition.
City police officials arrested Darryl R. Hoon Sr., 43, of Janet Drive, and he was booked into the Mahoning County jail Monday night. His case will be in the Mahoning County Common Pleas court.
According to a police report, an investigation into Hoon began June 16 after a 36-year-old West Virginia man called the Ohio State Highway Patrol about an assault.
He was transferred to the Canfield police and told police his two young daughters had been touched by Hoon, who had married their mother. The 36-year-old caller was divorced from his wife in July 2008 but has visitation rights.
When the children were visiting him in West Virginia, they said they had been kissed on the mouth and touched by Hoon. So, the man filed a restraining order in West Virginia courts for the children not to be with or near Hoon.
While shopping for clothes, one of the girls also told the West Virginia man’s fiancee and her own grandmother about Hoon touching her.
The police report said the girls said that Hoon would touch their breasts and have the girls lay on him.
Canfield police interviewed Hoon on June 22. The police report states he admitted rubbing the breasts of one of the girls, but denied touching the younger girl.
A warrant for Hoon’s arrest was obtained after Thursday’s grand jury indictment, and the nine counts are on charges of touching both girls.
