Children: Jennifer Comstock, school teacher, Poland Schools; Andrew; Clark, dentist specializing in prosthodontia in the Cleveland area; Scott, president of International Nutrition and senior vice president of Abbott Laboratories in Chicago; and Steven, a colonel in the Marine Corps currently with the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, Washington D.C.; and nine grandchildren including two sets of twins.
Education: Poland Seminary High School, 1954; Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa., 1958; Ohio State University College of Medicine, 1962; postgraduate, Youngstown Hospital Association’s Northside and Southside Hospitals; certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
Military: Captain in the Air Force Medical Corps.
Community activities: Member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Boardman and Church of the Palms in Sarasota, Fla.
About retirement: “I miss medicine, but you work so long, and one day you say, ‘it’s time.’”
About practicing medicine: “As I used to tell my students and residents, nothing replaces a good history and a thorough physical examination. It is very important to look your patient in the eye and communicate with them.”
