The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a 36-year-old Air Force veteran whose body reportedly was found by his parents after he visited their township home for a Fourth of July celebration.

Township police responded to the Penny Lane Court home shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report. There, they found the body of Brian Posterli of Boardman.

A relative of the victim told police that Posterli had visited his parents’ house for the holiday, during which he seemed “extremely tired.” The relative reported that she last saw Posterli about 3 a.m. Sunday, after which they both went to bed.

Posterli’s mother reportedly found him unresponsive about 9:45 a.m.

Police learned at the scene that Posterli was a disabled Air Force veteran who suffered from a back injury. He was taking medications for ailments that may have been related to his military service and was being treated at a veteran’s hospital, according to the report.

The county coroner’s office has not yet released any information about the case.
