Third-grade students in Campbell Elementary School visited the Akron Zoo and while there, their behavior impressed another visitor.

Barbara Mitchell and her 8-month-old son met the class on their zoo visit, and the students interacted with the baby.

Mitchell was so overwhelmed by the students that she reached out to teacher Karen Carney.

“I hope you don’t mind that I looked up your school email; I couldn’t stop thinking about how wonderful your class was to Graham [my son] today, and I really wanted your kids to know that they were the most polite and kind children that we have ever seen at the zoo,” Mitchell said in an email. “I know there’s not enough time for me to mail anything, but I was hoping to send the kids a little thank you.”

On the last day of classes, Mitchell sent the students pizza as a token of appreciation for their behavior while on the field trip.

“The people I have the privilege to work with give our kids the best educational experiences and opportunities in their power hoping to make a difference in their lives,” Carney said.
