YOUNGSTOWN

Applications for Leadership Mahoning Valley’s class of 2015-16 may be submitted through Aug. 1.

The program provides community leaders with a general overview of the Mahoning Valley, an opportunity for increased understanding of key community issues and the potential to develop effective working relationships with other civic leaders.

A selection committee will choose up to 40 participants for the $2,000 program that includes nine daylong sessions over nine months.

New videos released

The Oh-Penn Manufacturing Collaborative has released new videos as part of its “Industry Needs You” campaign to promote manufacturing in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. The videos, found on industryneedsyou.com, are meant to educate local students, along with their parents and educators, about careers in local industry.

IHOP pancake promo

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, participating area International House of Pancake restaurants will offer each guest one short stack of buttermilk pancakes for 57 cents to celebrate IHOP’s 57th anniversary.

Coinciding with the anniversary, IHOP has updated its logo, and has introduced a “Summer of Smiles” program.

Electronics Depot

The Electronics Depot recently opened at 8 Union St. The store offers a variety of vintage and current game systems, games and accessories, computers, televisions and other electronic equipment, as well as providing electronics repair for cellphones, televisions, laptops, tablets and computers.

The Electronics Depot is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Eastwood Mall events

A formal opening will take place at noon Aug. 1 for a revamped soft-play area in the J.C. Penney court of Eastwood Mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road.

Also, to celebrate the debut of the Very Orthodontics Smile Cove at the mall, the weekend will include attractions.

Summer-job poll

Job-Applications.com found two-thirds of the respondents in a national poll of 1,745 people from 46 states said they expected to a land a “decent summer job” in less than a month.

Most expect to make $8 to $9 per hour; two-thirds also said they expected it would take no longer than one month to find a summer job; about half of those looking for a job said they were looking for one in retail, sales or customer service; and most of those looking for a summer job were 23 or younger.
