Campbell man charged in shooting of fighting juveniles

Police arrested Marcus Powell, 45, of Campbell in connection with a shooting on Chambers Street Friday night.

Powell purportedly fired a handgun for an uncertain number of times at a large group of juveniles fighting before he fled back into his residence at 150 Chambers St., according to a police report.

No one was reported injured.

Multiple witnesses identified Powell as the shooter. Police found a shell casing on the street near the home and a black gun holster at Powell’s residence. No handguns were found.

Powell was charged with discharging a firearm on a prohibited premise, felonious assault with a weapon and having a weapon while under disability.

He was transported to Mahoning County jail and is being held without bond pending a court appearance Tuesday.
