Downtown bank robbery suspect indicted
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
A Mahoning County grand jury Thursday indicted the man accused of robbing a downtown bank May 29 on a count of robbery.
Randy Jamison, 39, of Crandall Avenue, was arrested June 1, thanks to tips from the public, for the robbery of the downtown branch of Huntington Bank on Market Street.
Police found Jamison in the psychiatric ward at ValleyCare North Side Medical Center early the day he was arrested. Jamison was taken there after he had some involvement with Liberty police earlier that day.
Reports said the bank robber gave a teller a note and received some cash, then ran out through the Boardman Street entrance. No weapon was shown, reports said.
Shortly after the robbery, police released still photos of the robber inside the bank and also examined other surveillance cameras in the area downtown around the bank.
