Roaring into the summer

On June 3, the Austintown library hosted Baby Brilliant: Pre-Kindergarten Story Time, a story time for children between the ages of 4 and 5. This event was special as a precursor for an upcoming visit from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History – it was themed with dinosaurs.
Librarian Cathy Orr set up crafts for the children who came to the class, allowing them to make paper dinosaurs with their parents after a few stories and songs.
Orr rounded up students for the class around the library by ringing a familiar bell signaling the story time being in- session.
In front of the classroom Orr had the letter D on the board for identification with the letter and the word “dinosaur.”
“We are kind of leading into the event,” Orr said. “It’s part of our Summer Discovery program.”
The summer discovery program allows those who participate to learn about different themes over the summer at the library – dinosaurs are the theme for the month of June.
Orr was excited to see so many students waiting to start the class.
“This should be fun,” Orr said.
After two stories with pop-up pictures Orr let the children stand up and pretend to be dinosaurs as they sang a song together.
