Daniel Good’s taste of freedom lasted a little more than 48 hours.

And that taste ended quickly because he was celebrating that freedom.

Good, 24, of East Liberty Street in Hubbard, was arraigned in municipal court Thursday on a felony charge of theft. Judge Robert Milich set his bond at $15,000.

Good was arrested about 12:20 a.m. Thursday at a 975 Bears Den car lot while officers were on patrol. He was found lying down in the bed of a pickup truck that had scrap inside.

Reports said Good told the officers at first he was lying down because he had low blood sugar, then said he earlier had been with a friend on the West Side who suggested they celebrate his release from prison Monday by smoking marijuana and drinking beer.

Good told officers the friend later asked Good if he wanted to make money by stealing scrap, and Good agreed, reports said.

The pickup was registered to Good’s friend, who reported it stolen, reports said. Reports said the friend was advised to talk to detectives about the stolen truck.

Assistant City Prosecutor Kathy Thompson said Good has an extensive criminal record for his age. Records in Girard Municipal Court show Good has charges dating back to 2009 for offenses such as DUI, criminal trespass, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, assault and three counts of receiving stolen property.

Records from Trumbull County Common Pleas Court show Good was charged with harassment by bodily substance while he was an inmate at the Trumbull County Jail in 2012, and he pleaded guilty to the charge in 2013. He was sentenced to six months in prison by Judge W. Wyatt McKay in November 2013. McKay also denied three requests by Good for an early release from prison, records show.
