Hubbard authorities investigating car break-ins
Staff report
HUBBARD
City and township police are investigating a string of car break-ins that occurred overnight Tuesday and early Wednesday.
A Westfield Avenue resident reported a pair of headphones, worth approximately $200, had been taken from his unlocked car between 1 and 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Another resident reported Tuesday morning that someone had entered her unlocked car parked on Parish Avenue but had taken only loose change. The resident said she knew her vehicle was entered because someone had left the center console open.
The Parish Avenue resident also reported that someone had broken into her daughter’s car overnight and taken about $5 in cash. The driver’s-side window had been broken out, according to a police report.
Additionally, township police are investigating break-ins to two vehicles owned by two residents on Beechwood Avenue between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
Police said each vehicle was locked and had windows broken. Purses and several credit cards were stolen.
Sgt. Mike Begeot said he doesn’t believe these break-ins were connected to other car break-ins in Struthers and Hubbard. “It was probably just a local job,” he said.
