All events are on the holiday Saturday unless otherwise noted.

MAHONING COUNTY

Austintown: The Austintown Historical Society will host its 40th annual ecumenical service at 8:30 a.m. at Austin Log Cabin, 3797 S. Raccoon Road. The Fitch Color Guard will present colors as a trumpet player plays “To the Colors.” Keynote speaker is Pastor Karl Rhein of Redeemer Lutheran Church. A continental breakfast will follow.

Austintown: Austintown’s 40th annual parade will start at 2 p.m. on Raccoon and Kirk Roads and travel north.

Austintown: An “Austintown Fireworks Celebration” will take place from 4 to 10:30 p.m. today at the Austintown Plaza, 6000 Mahoning Ave. Entertainment will include Vegas at 4 p.m., 80’s Proof at 5:45, and the Joshua Lee Nelson Band at 7:45. There also will be a performance by the Fitch Alumni Band, a Buffalo Wild Wings wing-eating championship, and a fireworks display at 10.

Canfield: These events for the holiday will be offered on and around the Village Green: Kids’ run and Firecracker 4 Mile Fun Run, 8:30 a.m., near Dairy Queen; and a 50th annual parade leaves the Fairgrounds at 10:10 a.m. and circles the green. A pre-parade performance from J.D. Eicher and The Goodnights at the Gazebo is at 8:30 a.m., and another performance at noon. Concessions are available before and after the parade. There will be music, games, children’s activities, a petting zoo, and prizes.

Canfield: The Canfield Rotary Fireworks Festival will take place from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds. There is $10 per car parking. Fireworks will be offered as well as bounce-arounds, side shows and food. Bring lawn chairs for entertainment J.D. Eicher and The Goodnights. Rain date is Sunday.

Struthers: A parade at noon will begin and end at Struthers Fifth Street Plaza.

Youngstown: A fireworks display sponsored by Phantom Fireworks will take place from about 9:30 to 11 p.m. today in Youngstown near the Covelli Centre.

TRUMBULL COUNTY

Howland: The township will host an Independence Day celebration from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A 5K Stars and Stripes run and walk (register to participate at 330-394-1565 or gopher4run.com) organized by the YMCA will begin at 8 a.m.; performance by Take Two at 9; and a parade starting at the Hunter Woods Plaza and finishing at the high school at 10. Games, entertainment, music and food will continue from 11 a.m. through 3 p.m., and a car show will take place at noon.

McDonald: The McDonald Fireman’s Festival will continue through Saturday at Woodland Park. A fireworks display at approximately 11:15 p.m. will close the festival Saturday.

Newton Falls: Newton Falls Fourth of July committee will host events throughout the week, as well as the holiday. Music will be offered nightly in the township community center, including The House Band 7 to 11 p.m. today. Events planned for Saturday include a parade, lining up at Broad Street at 9 a.m. and stepping off at 10 a.m.; Neil Hogue performance, 4 to 6 p.m., and Southern Exposure performance, 7 to 10 p.m. in the community center; and a free fireworks display at 10 p.m.

Niles: A fireworks display will take place at 10 p.m. in downtown Niles. The fireworks are set off from behind the fire station on Niles-Cortland Road.

Niles: Fireworks will follow the 7:05 p.m. Mahoning Valley Scrappers game against the IronBirds at Eastwood Field, 111 Eastwood Mall Blvd.

Warren: A Packard Legacy Weekend at the National Packard Museum and Packard Park, 1899 Mahoning Ave. NW, will take place noon to 5 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event celebrating the design and engineering of the Packard automobile offers how-to demonstrations, lectures, exhibits, and music. This year’s event will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the dedication of Packard Park. “Packard Day” on Saturday will include family games and events in Packard Park before the W.D. Packard Band Concert at 8 p.m. and fireworks afterward on the South Lawn. The “All Makes Cruise In” car show hosted by Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. All outside events are free. Museum admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors (65 and older) and children 7-12.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY

East Palestine: Activities for the holiday will be offered Saturday at East Palestine City Park. They include a community breakfast, 8 to 10:30 a.m.; 5K Freedom Run sponsored by Masonic Lodge, 8:30; pet parade, 10; bike parade, 12:30 p.m.; games for all ages, entertainment beginning with Cheap Thrillz, Joint Effort, Cody Gibson band and Passin’ Thru, and basketball 3 on 3 tournament, all starting at 2; sand volleyball tournament and duck derby (at park entrance), both at 4; donkey drop bingo, 5. County Commissioner Tim Weigle will be skydiving at the event, weather permitting. Concessions will be available. Fireworks sponsored by the East Palestine Fire Department will begin at about 9:45 p.m.

Columbiana: Firestone Park, 38 E. Park Ave., will be the site for all-day events celebrating the holiday .Planned events are a fishing contest at 8:30 a.m.; pet contest by the gazebo at 11 a.m.; sidewalk chalk event 11 to 3 p.m.; canoe race, 11:30 to 2:30 p.m.; family games and activities at east end of football field 1 to 3 p.m.; and ice cream eating contest at 3 p.m., and watermelon-eating contest at 3:30 p.m., both by the gazebo. Entertainment will be provided by the Canfield Community Band from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Band on the Hill at 7 to 8 and 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 10.

Salem: The city will offer a fireworks display at dusk today at Waterworth Memorial Park, 866 Sunset Blvd.

MERCER COUNTY

Farrell, Pa.: The city of Farrell’s Homecoming 2015 Bates Bros. Amusement Carnival will take place 6 to 10 p.m. nightly through Sunday at the stadium at Farrell High School, 1600 Roemer Blvd. The carnival includes FHS sporting events, food, music and more. Nightly entertainment includes: Today, DJ Jeff Baymon at 6 and Groove Clinic 7 to 10; Saturday, parade 11 a.m., ceremony at noon, “I’m So Farrell” reunion 1 to 6 p.m., DJ Platter 7 to 11, carnival matinee noon to 4, and fireworks by Sky King 10 p.m.; and Sunday, carnival matinee noon to 4 p.m., Total Package at 4, and flag football games 6:30.

Greenville, Pa.: The Eighth Annual Greenville Heritage Days will take place 4 to 10 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, along Main Street. Each day will include a family fun zone for all ages, as well as food and arts and crafts vendors. Highlights each day include: Friday, music from Juvenile Characteristics, 7 to 10 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m.; Saturday, Heritage day 5k 9 a.m., over 50 v. high school baseball game at Packard Park at 11 a.m., car show on Main Street 2 to 6 p.m. and USO show at Greenville High School at 7; and Sunday, G-Mazing race and corn hole tournament at 1 p.m. For information and a full schedule, visit www.greenvilleheritagedays.com.

Hermitage, Pa.: Hermitage will have fireworks at approximately 9:40 p.m. today. City officials urge spectators to meet at Hillcrest Memorial Park near the intersection of Kerrwood Drive and Highland Road. The event is organized by the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce and Hermitage Community Affairs.

Mercer, Pa.: “Red White and Blue” will be the theme of a concert at Mercer County Courthouse Square today. Makin’ Changes will provide warm-up music at 6 p.m. for the Mercer Community Band at 7:30 p.m. Vocals by Justin Ray and clarinet by Dan Heasley will be featured. An ice-cream social with the Mercer Band Boosters will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the events will move to the Mercer High School auditorium. Ellwood City, Pa.: The Ellwood City Festival will take place today through Sunday at Ewing Park, 330 Sims St. Daily highlights include Little Miss and Little Mr. Firecracker Pageant today; Ellwood City Ledger 10K race Saturday; and Zambelli Fireworks display 10 p.m. Sunday. Vendors of arts, crafts and food, juried art show, daily entertainment and more offered throughout. Free festival admission, but parking is $5 per car load or $10 for a 3-day pass.
