Youngstown man arrested in assault
WARREN
A Youngstown man is in Trumbull County jail after his arraignment in municipal court Wednesday on charges he knocked out a woman June 24.
Willie J. Hill, 53, of East Wood Street, was arraigned on a charge of felonious assault and has a bond of $75,000, according to court records.
Police reports said officers were called to St. Joseph Warren Hospital at 7:25 p.m. June 24, where a 51-year-old woman told the officer she picked Hill up in Youngstown and took him to her apartment. Reports said she told the officer Hill hit her in the head with a metal rail during an argument, and she was knocked unconscious.
She waited several hours before seeking treatment because she is afraid of Hill, reports said.
A warrant was issued for Hill, and he was arrested at his Youngstown apartment without incident about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Dog’s death probed
GIRARD
Police are investigating possible animal abuse in the death of a dog found here.
A Trumbull Avenue resident told police when she left for work Tuesday morning the dog was fine and chained to the back porch. The resident said, however, about 10 a.m., her daughter found the dog dead and hanging from the rear-porch banister.
The resident said she believes the dog could not have climbed up the banister on its own due to its small size, the length of the chain and the height of the banister.
Officer Scott Strain, however, noted in a report he believes the dog may have climbed the banister on its own.
The resident said she knows of no one in the neighborhood who might be responsible or who has ill will toward her family. She stated she came home around two weeks ago to find another one of her dogs was dead while chained in the back yard, but she assumed the dog died due to natural causes.
