Small fire causes brief evacuation of YSU's Ward Beecher Hall

YOUNGSTOWN — Ward Beecher Hall at Youngstown State University was evacuated for a short time this morning when a small fire ignited while workers were repairing the building’s roof.

Ron Cole, a YSU spokesman, said the fire caused some smoke to get into the building’s sixth floor. University officials called the city fire department who evacuated the building. Everyone returned to the building a short time later. There was no damage and no one was injured.
