Cruze sales down from last year, but above 20,000

LORDSTOWN — Chevrolet’s best-selling compact car built in Lordstown took a 12.9 percent hit in sales this June compared with last June.

A total of 22,647 Cruzes were delivered last month compared with 26,008 Cruzes delivered in June 2014.

Overall, GM sales were down 3 percent from last year, mostly due to a 29 percent drop in fleet sales.

Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers in the U.S. delivered 259,353 vehicles in June 2015. Retail deliveries climbed 7 percent year over year, and they were up more than the industry for the third month in a row.

Driving the increases were stronger Cadillac sales as well as a 12 percent gain at GMC and a 9 percent increase at Chevrolet. They helped make the month General Motors’ best June for retail deliveries since 2007 and its best June for retail market share since 2011.
