Holy Family School hosted its annual spelling bee on Jan. 16 for children in grades 4-8.
The spelling bee took place in the school’s gym. A representative from each home room in each grade participated.
The bee lasted about half an hour. Eighth-grader Michael Appugliese spelled the words “deficiency” and “insufficient” to clinch the win. Seventh-grader Elise Armile was runner-up.
Appugliese will represent Holy Family School in the regional Vindicator Spelling Bee, which will be hosted by Youngstown State University in March.
