Canfield swim teams take second
The Canfield swim team competed at the AAC championship meet on Jan. 17. Canfield went up against swimmers from Wooster, Boardman, Warren G Harding, Hubbard, Jefferson, Austintown Fitch and Edgewood High School.
The Canfield girls placed second in the meet. Maggie Beistel set a meet record for the 100 freestyle. Sarah Heaven set a meet record for the 100-yard backstroke. The girls 400 freestyle relay team also set a meet record (Sarah Heaven, Rachel Willliams, Theresa Mikolay and Maggie Beistel).
Top swimmers for the girls were Sarah Heaven (first in the 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 400 free relay; second in the 200 medley relay), Theresa Mikolay (first in the 400 free relay; scond in the 200 medley relay, 200 butterfly; third in the 100 breaststroke), Maggie Beistel (first in the 100 freestyle, 400 free relay; second in the medley relay), Rachel Williams (first in the 400 free relay; second in the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle) and Carlie Oddo (second in diving).

Top swimmers for the boys were Connor Brady (first in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke; second in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay), Kyle Anderson (first in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley; second in the 500 freestyle, 200 free relay), Matthew Bogen (first in the 200 medley relay, 100 breaststroke; second in the 400 free relay; third in the 200 freestyle), Cullen Brady (first in the 200 medley relay; third in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Ben Brucoli (second in the 100 freestyle, 200 free relay, 400 free relay) and Alec Gaetano (second in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay).
