Driver in fatal downtown Columbus bus-truck crash indicted


COLUMBUS (AP) — The driver of a pickup truck that authorities say ran a red light and struck a school bus in a downtown crash has been indicted on charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

The Franklin County Grand Jury returned the indictment today against 62-year-old Terrance Trent. Prosecutors say Trent ran a red light and struck a bus carrying three Groveport Madison schoolchildren near the Ohio Statehouse on Dec. 12. The impact of Trent’s pickup truck forced the bus into a nearby crosswalk, hitting two pedestrians.

A female pedestrian was killed at the scene and a male pedestrian died from his injuries about two weeks later.

Trent was indicted on two felony counts of aggravated vehicle homicide and two felony counts of vehicular assault.
