Police arrest man after foot chase on North Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Police say a man ran from the police during a traffic stop on the North Side while a woman driving the car he was in drove away.

Officers pulled over a car about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday for an improper turn on Saranac Avenue, reports said. The driver, Ashley Daniels, 28, of Youngstown, did not have a driver’s license, and a passenger, 24-year-old Curtis Daniels, also of Youngstown, had a warrant for his arrest from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, reports said.

Reports did not say if the two are related.

When the officer who performed the checks on the pair got out of his cruiser, Curtis Daniels got out of the car and ran away, reports said. The officer chased him in his cruiser and caught up with him at Florist and Logan avenues, where he was taken into custody.

While Curtis Daniels was being chased, Ashley Daniels drove away, reports said. She was found nearby and was issued a citation for driving without a license.

Curtis Daniels was also given a citation for obstruction of justice and taken to Liberty, where a Trumbull County deputy took him into custody on the warrant.
