Canfield man found guilty of burglary

YOUNGSTOWN — A jury found a Canfield man guilty of burglary today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for stealing drugs and other items from an Austintown man in October.

Ryan Gibson, 23, will be sentenced March 11 by Judge Shirley Christian. Gibson was found guilty after a trial that took about two days.

Assistant Prosecutor Nick Brevetta said Gibson is accused of entering a man’s Compass West apartment Oct. 14 and taking the man’s marijuana, money and a video-game system.

He was originally charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, but jurors found him guilty of the burglary charge.

Brevetta said he will ask for the maximum eight years in prison at the sentencing.
