R&J Trucking will open a new 12,500-square-foot maintenance facility in Moraine, Ohio, by June.

The company received an eight-year tax abatement from the city of Moraine on the estimated $750,000 facility that will be built on 17 acres the company purchased.

“They have been in the market for the past year or two, and they would like to create a location here,” said Michael Davis, economic- development director for the city, which is in Montgomery County near Dayton.

No one from R&J Trucking could be reached to comment Monday.

The trucking company’s main office is at 8063 Southern Blvd.

R&J Trucking Inc. was started by Ron Carrocce with one truck in 1960. Today, the company has more than 600 company-owned trucks, 1,000 trailers and 150 owner-operators, according to the company’s website.

Multiple terminals are listed on the company’s website including locations in Dayton, Toledo and Canton.

Davis said the land R&J purchased is part of about 80 acres of vacant property that used to be owned by Delphi. It has sat vacant for 10 years.

“We are hoping it will spur some more future opportunities,” Davis said of R&J’s investment.

Construction on the facility is expected to begin this month and end by June 30.

R&J will create 62 full-time jobs within the first year it is in Moraine and add an additional 10 by year three, according to an agreement between the city and R&J.

The projected employment will result in approximately $3.2 million of annual payroll for R&J Trucking.
