Library challenge is for those 6 and up

SALEM

Salem Public Library has a challenge for readers ages 6 and up.

“52 Pickup” is the name of the yearlong reading club, in which participants see if they can read a book a week between Feb. 14, 2015, and Feb. 13, 2016.

Participants must be able to read or listen to each title themselves. Each title can be counted only once in the contest period. Salem Public Library paperbacks, hardbacks, large print, graphic novels, eBooks, audiobooks, and eAudiobooks count.

Magazines and comic books do not count, nor do picture books read by patrons over age 10. Participants who have read 52 books during the club time period will receive prizes and an invitation to a recognition reception.

Stop by the library to pick up a personal reading log or download the log from the library’s website at www.salem.lib.oh.us. For information call 330-332-0042.

Stephen Moore heads to Vindy Bee

CANFIELD

The word is “winner” for South Range eighth-grader Stephen Moore, who can both spell it and add it as a title to his name.

Stephen won the South Range Middle School Spelling Bee in early January and will go on to represent his school at The Vindicator Spelling Bee in March at Youngstown State University.

Other winners are seventh-grader Olivia Rhodehamel, runner-up; and sixth-grader Richard Lipp, who took third place.
