YOUNGSTOWN

Police say a man who was passed out in his pickup truck for 30 minutes Saturday evening in a turning lane on a South Side street registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.244. The legal limit for drunken driving in Ohio is 0.08.

An officer saw a running pickup truck westbound on Indianola Avenue at Glenwood Avenue about 6:45 p.m. surrounded by several people, so he stopped to investigate. Witnesses told him the truck had been there and running for at least 30 minutes.

The officer reported he could smell alcohol at least 3 feet away from the truck, and when he woke the driver, Ronald Stevens, 63, of Youngstown, the smell became worse.

Reports said Stevens had trouble talking and performing a field-sobriety test. He was taken to the police station and given a breath test and was cited for driving under suspension and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was released to a relative and given a court date.

3 warrant arrests

BOARDMAN

An investigation into a suspicious vehicle led to three warrant arrests on drug-related offenses Saturday.

Tari Altenburg, 47, of Leetonia faces a felony charge of trafficking in counterfeit controlled substances. Edward Altenburg, 40, of Leetonia faces a felony charge of complicity to trafficking in counterfeit controlled substances. Jamie Rambo, 27, of Lisbon was arrested on a warrant for two felony drug-possession charges and on misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug-abuse instruments. All of the warrants were out of Columbiana County.

Police arrested the three after their vehicle stopped at a Market Street business. Rambo’s additional charges stem from the fact police found a purse, discovered to be hers, that contained the paraphernalia and instruments. Custody of the three was transferred to the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.
