Witnesses stopped woman from abandoning baby in central Pa.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police say a woman was arrested after two people said they saw her apparently try to abandon a baby several times in central Pennsylvania.
Sgt. Gabriel Olivera told PennLive.com the witnesses “saved a life” this morning.
Police said the two reported seeing a woman put the 4-month-old girl wrapped in a sheet on the cold ground in a Harrisburg field and walk away.
They said the woman returned, but then put the baby into the back of a parked pickup truck, only to return again.
Olivera said the witnesses reported the woman then tried to put the child into a Community Aid clothing collection bin, but they confronted and stopped her.
He said the 30-year-old woman will face charges of attempted homicide and child endangerment.
