State Controlling Board OKs funds for projects in Mahoning, Columbiana and Youngstown


COLUMBUS — The state Controlling Board OK’d funding today for parks improvements in Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

In Mahoning, the village of Beloit will receive $36,145 to build an accessible restroom building in the village park, while Canfield Township will receive $25,000 for a new pavilion, picnic tables, grills and security cameras.

Additionally, Washingtonville in Columbiana County will receive $33,417 for new play equipment and a basketball court.

In other business, lawmakers released more than $71,000 for improvements to the Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services at Oakhill Renaissance Place on Oak Hill Avenue on Youngstown’s South Side.

The building is in need of numerous repairs, including a roof replacement, masonry restoration, parking lot updates and other upgrades. The funds will go to BSHN Architects Inc. of Youngstown for planning, design and management of the work, according to documents.
